Rockefella Christmas Tree Lighting 29th Nov
Yet another must-do NY Tradition - Going to Rockefeller Centre to watch the Christmas Tree light up!

Actually it was so random. Eddy and I were waiting for the bus to get us to sch in the afternoon and then we saw this newspaper which was left on the seat. As you would have guessed by now, we picked it up and saw the ad for the lighting and we went like let's go.

I needed to think of a stupid excuse to skip my group meeting in the evening but as luck would have it, we decided to shift it to Sunday instead. So down we went and when we got out of the subway, we were like 2 blocks away and couldn't get any closer already!

However, the brilliant me spotted people climbing the barricades to head into one of the buildings arnd Rockefeller and so we followed. By a stroke of luck, we wandered arnd and headed to the basement where there was one huge party for like the VIPs and we could even see the ice-skating rink just in front! But the area was cordoned off and we just wandered around till we found a staircase somewhere.

It was lucky that they allowed people from inside the building a path almost to the front so we kinda followed it, got scolded by some policemen before climbing another barrier. But by then we could see the whole tree! What luck man. Well what ensued was just a 2 hour wait which we spent by crapping and people watch. Luckily there was a J. Crew store across the street which had its huge LCD tv facing us haha. There had some private function inside but the crowd managed to attract the attention of one of the male guest inside who helped us REMOVE the window display items like the boots and a mannequin to the side so we could watch it. It was hilarious man. Watchin' the crowd cheering and pointing out what to remove to the guy inside.

Besides that, just listen to the stars at the event singing christmas songs to get into the christmasy spirit. Actually we did feel happy haha, guess the songs did help. The lighting up itself though was nothing spectacular. Similar to the trees I saw in Chicago maybe except much much larger.
